Malvern Civic Week: 13 - 20 July 2013
Malvern Civic Society is once again holding its very popular Civic Week, with all kinds of free and paid-for activities, including walks, talks and a Gala Concert.
Among this year's highlights are:
Author Paula Byrne talking about her new book, which uncovers a different side to Jane Austen (16th July).
Mike Gill, Himalayan climber and lifelong friend of Sir Edmund Hillary, giving the Everest Anniversary Lecture (Thursday 18th July).
Jenny Lind, one of Victorian Malvern's most famous residents, is celebrated in a gala concert (13th July) and lecture by the American researcher Arthur Candenquist (15th July).
An illustrated talk on the Foster family of Malvern, who's sons contributed so greatly to english cricket (17th July).
Tours are being arranged of Country houses and their gardens, including Whitbourne Hall (15th July), Madresfield Court (18th July) and Little Malvern Court (17th July).
Lots of outdoor activities, including a Glow Worm Hunt (Friday 19th July) a Ghost Walk (Sunday 14th July), a tour of Great Malvern Cemetery (Wednesday 17th July) and a scramble to the highest spring on the Hills (Saturday 13th July)
