In 1880, playing golf on what is now the common, then the new Malvern Golf Course, Rev. Henry Foster met Edward Chance. They recognised the need for a place of worship in the Poolbrook area. The vision was not lost at Edward’s death in 1881; his widow and Henry set up group meetings and Sunday evening services in Peachfield House.

In 1885, the Chance Memorial Chapel-of-Ease, dedicated to St Andrew, was opened, under the oversight of Christ Church.

After nearly 100 years of ministry, in 1977, St Andrew’s became a parish.

The church hall was added in the early 1980s, to serve the community as well as the growing church with its various groups for children and young people.

With the new millennium the church faced the exciting challenge of ever increasing numbers. This resulted in the building of a new suite of rooms and toilets, plus a foyer leading to the St Andrew's.
