Worcester Christmas Light Switch On 2018
22 November 2018
Starting at 3.45pm, with the lights switch on at 6pm
in Cathedral Square, Worcester
Christmas festivities begin in Worcester when sparkling lights will be switched on from Cathedral Square as part of a fun-packed family evening.
White and gold coloured lights are being specially hired by the City Council to bring festive sparkle to Worcester’s city centre, as the Christmas shopping season begins in earnest. Fairy lights are also being installed in trees along the High Street, creating an extra magical effect.
Hosted by BBC Hereford & Worcester presenters Elliott Webb and Malcolm Boyden, the evening will include entertainment from Luke Swatman; Matt Sheehan; Dharma Burns; Alex Lleo; Woo Town Hillbillies and Worcester Concert Brass, amongst others. After the lights have been switched on, there will be a community carol sing along.
The event signals the start of Christmas late night shopping in Worcester city centre, with many shops staying open until 8.00pm on Thursdays.
