Local hotel supports local charity in Malvern

The staff at The Mount Pleasant Hotel in Great Malvern are raising funds for local  Malvern resuscitation charity, Heartstart Malvern, that provides free CPR training and maintains 25 public defibrillators around the Malvern Hills area.

The hotel staff themselves were trained as first responders by Heartstart Malvern in 2018 and wanted to help the charity in these unprecedented times. The charity has recently launched a Heartbeat Appeal and set up a fundraising ‘6KChallenge’ for supporters to raise the profile of the campaign. The appeal target aims to raise £6000 for the year 2020, so that the charity can continue to maintain defibrillators, manage overheads and seek online solutions to training and information provision, at a time when donations have dried up due to the Covid outbreak.

AJ Bains, General Manager, said: ”That the Hotel team would help the charity in their appeal was an easy and unanimous decision. Heartstart Malvern has been doing phenomenal work in the Malvern area with defibrillators and training and it is time we pulled together as a community so that they can continue their good work”.

AJ along with Ben Pearson, Restaurant Manager, Steve Rimmer, Head Chef, Ashlea Fleming, Manager – Operations, Suki Pantal, Marketing Manager, Tony Suffling, Shop Manager, Charlotte Bird, Front of House Supervisor, Emily Brimmell and Oleg, Assistant Restaurant Managers will be doing their ‘6K Challenge’ in different ways: by 6 kilometers of walking, 6K miles of running or cycling or by lifting 600 kgs of weights. Each team member has taken on the challenge for 6 consecutive days to raise awareness and funds.

The team are asking people to donate £6 on their Just Giving page and to spread the word that this local charity that helps save lives needs our help today. The link to the team’s JustGiving page is at: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/the-mount-pleasant-hotel1
