The English Symphony Orchestra, under Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Kenneth Woods, promises an evening of lyrical Romanticism to include Dvorak’s folk-infused Czech Suite, and Brahms’ Symphony No.2 - written during a stay in the Austrian lakes.
A performance of Tchaikovsky’s well-loved ‘Rococo’ Variations features Hannah Roberts; one of the outstanding ‘cellists of her generation, multiple prize winner and a regular soloist with London Mozart Players, LSO, BBC Concert Orchestra, and The Halle Orchestra.
Hailed by Gramophone magazine as “a symphonic conductor of stature”, Kenneth Woods has built an acclaimed body of work with the English Symphony Orchestra since his appointment in 2013. Founded in 1980, recognised as the International Orchestra of Elgar Country and supported by Arts Council England, the Worcestershire-based ensemble has become synonymous with artistic excellence, innovative and visionary programming, under Woods’ tenure.
