Laughter Yoga has come to Malvern!

Sue MacLusky, a qualified Laughter Yoga Leader, runs sessions at The Malvern Cube once a month.

 ‘Laughter Yoga is a unique concept and works for anyone because you don't need to tell jokes’ says Sue. ‘Laughter as a result of humour is conditional. Laughter Yoga, on the other hand, is completely unconditional because it's the outcome of childlike playfulness by taking part in simulated Laughter exercises.’

Laughter Yoga combines laughter exercises with Yogic breathing. This brings more oxygen into the brain and makes you feel more energetic and healthier. It was developed by Dr Madan Kataria in 1995 and is now worldwide with Laughter Clubs in more than 100 countries. Sue trained in Laughter Yoga more than 12 years ago and has run classes since then.

‘We all know that laughter is infectious but there is a lot of science behind it’ continues Sue. ‘There are proven psychological and physiological benefits to practising Laughter Yoga; it elevates mood, reduces stress, strengthens the immune system, connects people socially, and what's more, it builds greater resilience in people because it teaches them how to laugh, even when times are hard.

‘I'm running a Laughter Club at The Malvern Cube once a month on Thursday evenings.  It's been a life changer for me and has got me through the darkest of times, so I love sharing this. Getting people to laugh for no reason is by far the best thing I've ever done!’

The next Laughter Yoga sessions at Malvern Cube take place on Thursday evenings on 13th June, 11th July.
