Our Lizzy's Recipe: Chocolate Tiffin

An easy recipe - no oven needed. Great for children to make for a family treat at Easter.

  • 225g biscuits
  • 100g margarine
  • 4 tsp cocoa 
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 100g chocolate
  • large handful of dried fruit


  1. Line a 20cm square tin or lunch box with greaseproof paper. 
  2. Place the biscuits in a strong plastic bag. Roughly crush the biscuits with a rolling pin.
  3. Put the margarine, cocoa, and syrup in a saucepan, and then melt over a gentle heat. Add dried fruit if using. Add the crushed biscuits and stir well. Transfer the mixture to the prepared tin and press down firmly.
  4. Put the chocolate in a bowl and melt over a saucepan of simmering water. Pour over the top of the biscuit mixture. Place in fridge until set. 
  5. Cut into pieces to serve, makes 9 squares or can be cut into smaller nuggets. The ingredients can be doubled if you want to make a larger batch.
