Royal Society for the Protection of Birds : Wellbeing Walks

29 July 2024

All available dates: 29 July 2024, 06 August 2024

Would you like to get out walking this summer? The local group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is organising a series of free walks in Worcester to improve wellbeing and mental health.

There is increasing evidence that accessing green spaces has significant benefits not only for our physical health but also our mental health.  Walking helps with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and overall wellbeing.

Research shows that the closer we get to nature, feeling that we have a strong connection to the plants and animals around us, the happier we are. Life feels more worthwhile. If you or someone you know finds it really difficult to go outside and walk, whether alone or with a group, this might be for you.

Anyone who would like to get outside more may benefit from this small, friendly walking group.  The local Worcester and Malvern RSPB group is organising free walks for up to one hour, offering the chance to enjoy gentle exercise in nature, enjoy the fresh air and learn more about nature in the local area.

The group will walk at an easy pace for about an hour on firm level ground that is suitable for mobility scooters. There will be opportunities for rests or to leave the walk along the way and there will be toilets nearby. The walks will be suitable for all ages and all fitness levels - adults with young children in pushchairs/buggies are very welcome. No specialist knowledge is necessary to come along and join in!

The next walks will take place on 3rd and 19th June, 10th and 29th July, and 6th August. Please email before the day to confirm you will be joining, rspbnaturewalks@gmail.com
