The Beacon Camera Club

Beacon Camera Club welcomes members of every ability and interest, from those more confident with a camera to complete beginners. A busy club with more than 100 members, there are many different groups to join, here’s a selection of what goes on.

Monday

Beginners and Improvers Group

The group holds evening tuition sessions on the second and fourth Monday of each month, in carefully graduated sequence to take you from opening the new camera box through to image manipulation.  The idea is that you learn from experiment and experience; and there is always someone on hand to offer help and advice.  In fairer weather, practical outdoor shoots are organised where members can try out what they have learned.

Audio-Visual Group

The third Monday each month meeting at the Vale Community Centre, exploring how to bed images with sound, be it music, voice or sound effects.

Tuesday

Wildlife & Nature Group

The first Tuesday of each month in the evening and often found meeting up during the day at different times of the week to photograph in local areas of natural beauty.  This group will open doors to where to go and hides you never knew existed.

Photoshop Group

The second Tuesday of each month this group is small to ensure everyone attending is given all the support they need to progress and develop their skill base.

Panel and Distinctions Group

On the third Tuesday of each month, a new group inspired by a guest speaker showing panel prints.  After discussion, the club members decided to create their own panels.

Wednesday

Charlie Williams Trophy Monthly On-Line Competition

A single image taken/made to fit a theme is entered by the last Wednesday of the month.  This is then judged by all the other entrants and on the following Wednesday the entrants gather to critique each other’s work – good humour abounds!

Portrait Group

This group meets on the third Wednesday of each month with a model as often as possible, or looking at equipment such as lighting and how to use it to best effect.

Photo Café

Once a month at different times and days, this is an informal gathering to discuss photography and to find answers to the various questions posed by members.
